On the morning of August 22, a farewell ceremony for Wang Wei’s departure to Nanjing to donate hematopoietic stem cells was held at Wuxi Guosheng Bioengineering Co., Ltd. He will become the 26th person in Liangxi District and the 95th volunteer in Wuxi City to donate hematopoietic stem cells. Zhou Bin, member of the leading Party group and Vice President of the Wuxi Municipal Red Cross Society, Huang Meihua, Vice Chairman of the Liangxi District Political Consultative Conference and President of the District Red Cross Society, Dai Liang, General Manager of Wuxi Guosheng Biological Engineering Co., Ltd., and other relevant leaders attended the farewell ceremony.

Wang Wei, an employee of Wuxi Guosheng Bioengineering Co., Ltd., is enthusiastic and dedicated. He has joined the ranks of voluntary blood donation since 2015 and has donated a total of 4700ml of blood so far. In July, 2020, he voluntarily signed up to join the China Marrow Donor Program and became a glorious hematopoietic stem cell donation volunteer.

In April, 2023, Wang Wei received a call from the Liangxi District Red Cross Society, informing him that he had successfully matched with a 42-year-old female patient. He had been waiting for this moment for three years. When he nervously shared the news with his family, his parents had some concerns. At this time, Wang Wei’s wife not only supported her husband wholeheartedly but also actively communicated with his parents, and finally, the elderly couple also strongly approved of their son’s decision to donate hematopoietic stem cells. “Thinking about being able to do my part to help someone regain their health and save a family, I chose to donate without hesitation, because life is invaluable,” Wang Wei shared his journey at the farewell party, which also coincided with the traditional Chinese festival of Qixi Festival. Wang Wei also expressed that he became a volunteer of the China Marrow Donor Program under the influence of his wife, who had participated in voluntary blood donations many times before. It can be said that the “small love” of mutual support and encouragement between them became the “great love” of saving others’ lives on this day.

After successfully passing the high-resolution detection and physical examination, Wang Wei will set off for Nanjing on August 24th to donate hematopoietic stem cells, saving the life of a blood disease patient on the verge of despair and bringing hope of life to a family.
